Our Philosophy and Mission

Teaching Philosophy of the Studio

Director Julie Ann believes that learning to play an instrument should be fun, challenging, affordable, and accessible to any aspiring musician, no matter the age or level.

As music is the passion of all our teachers, they want to guide every student to reach their own musical goals.  Whether your aspiration is to play an instrument recreationally or to become a world-class performer, the teachers at The Scottsdale Studio of Music have the knowledge and skills to help you!

Each teacher’s goal at the studio is to allow their students to establish the necessary classical music foundation while also choosing extracurricular popular songs that inspire the students to practice on their own.  The teachers work with a flexible music curriculum, so that every student can be confident that he or she is gaining the essential skills of music reading, improvisation, technique, theory and performance, yet students will still learn songs that they recognize and enjoy.

The classical foundation of music allows musicians to competently expand into any genre of music that interests them.  Being “classically trained” in music creates very versatile musicians and opens unlimited opportunities to expand a student’s music potential.

The Mission of the Studio

Ø  To offer the highest quality in music instruction, with teachers who are always positive and encouraging and tailor their lessons to individual learning styles.

Ø  To challenge every student to achieve the fullest music potential.

Ø  To ensure a learning experience that is fun, enjoyable, and motivating.

Ø  To always include within the curriculum classical music training, as classical music is the foundation of all music and learning the classics allows a musician to excel in any musical or vocal genre.

Ø  To utilize teaching methods that avoid a rigid and strict approach, which typically leads to uninspired students.

Ø  To offer a relaxed studio environment for students and families.

Ø  To provide performance opportunities within an encouraging and non-competitive environment.

Ø  To always offer these services at affordable and competitive rates.
