Private lessons resume Wednesday, January 11th, 2011.
Lessons run from Monday through Saturday. No Sunday Lessons.

Group classes run from January 30th, 2012 through May 26th, 2012.
Group classes are available in strings, guitar, and piano.

Thanksgiving Week: Saturday, November 19th - Sunday, November 27th.
Winter Break: Monday, December 19th - Tuesday, January 10th

          NOTE: All students participating in PMTA events must sign a
          copy of the PMTA guidelines.

November 2011
     Fall Festival                            
             Students must memorize two solos from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Contemporary periods.
             One solo must be from the Baroque period.
             Students are adjudicated during a private audition.

December 11th - 18th, 2011
     Holiday Musicale Series 2011
             Scottsdale Studio of Music students perform in an informal 
             environment in small groups of 6-7 students each.
             This event is required for all students, except for adults.
              Adults schedule a private recording session instead of this performance.
             
January 2012
   Fountain Hills Piano Competion 2012 
                            
              This event consists of three rounds, the first of which is a video submission of the student's performance. The event has recently changed its schedule to a bi-annual event, so the 2012 competition is cancelled. The next Fountain Hills Piano Competition happens in January 2013.
              Contestants are eliminated during each round until 3 winners are chosen for scholarship prizes.

February 25th, 2012
     59th Annual PMTA Piano Ensemble             
               This Phoenix Music Teacher's Association event allows students to perform in an ensemble concert.
               Each student prepares a duet to be practiced with a partnered pianist.  
               Three general rehearsals and a dress rehearsal with a conductor take place in February before the concert on February 25th, which features as many as 20 pianists playing at once.
                           

March 2012
     PMTA Celebration of Music
                     
            Students prepare two solo pieces to be adjudicated in a recital environment.
                Cash awards will be distributed to the winners, 
                 and all participants will be acknowledged with certificates.
                 This event is open to all students who have studied for at least 
                 three months with their current instructor; there is a division for 
                 students from grades K-12.

April 2012
     PMTA Vocal Competition

                Vocalists prepare and memorize two contrasting pieces and adjudicated
                based on musicality, expression, stage ettiquette, vocal technique, and 
                and proper musical interpretation.  Vocalists enter competition based on 
                age and music level. Cash prizes awarded for winners of each division.


May 2012
     National Piano Guild Auditions
  
            This event is an opportunity for piano students to be adjudicated in a
                 non-competitive environment.
                Students are awarded pins based on the number of pieces they memorize
                 and perform for the adjudicator.  Students receive valuable feedback
                 from the adjudicator and a certificate.

      Formal Spring Recital Series 2012
                  Dates and Times: TBA
                  Scottsdale Studio of Music students perform in the Masterclass Room at Studio Expansion location in North Scottsdale
                  Students prepare 2-4 pieces for a supportive audience of family and friends.
