GUITAR
All the different kinds of guitar instruments developed first from the acoustic guitar.  Taking lessons in acoustic guitar will establish the best foundation for a student, enabling a guitarist to easily transfer into any kind of guitar they please. Guitar lessons at our studio are comprehensive music lessons, so students learn not only chordal playing but become well-rounded music readers.

See the guitar teachers’ biographies here.

THE GUITAR LESSONS
Private lessons are available weekly, for any age or level, in 30 minute, 45 minute, or hour long sessions. The studio encourages 45 minute sessions for late intermediate level students and above.

THE GUITAR CLASSES
Group guitar classes are offered in 45-minute weekly classes, for adults and grades pre-kindergarten through high school.  These classes are for beginning, intermediate, and advanced playing levels, and students learn to read music, play within a group, and play on their own.

WHAT SETS OUR STUDIO APART
Often guitar lessons focus only on chord learning and playing by ear, in order to keep the lessons “fun.”  However, this kind of instruction often loses the interest of the student very quickly, because learning only chords severely limits playing ability.  The guitar lessons and classes at The Scottsdale Studio of Music motivate students by offering a fun, interesting, and comprehensive curriculum, which teaches all the skills of guitar playing, including, but not limited to, chords.
Music learning should be fun, inspiring, and fulfilling, no matter the age or level of the student.

OTHER LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

          ENSEMBLE: Group playing
The Scottsdale Studio of Music emphasizes the musical and learning value of students playing with other musicians their own age and level. Enrolled students have the opportunity to join other student musicians from the studio to play in groups, which teaches team work through music.

          THEORY CLASSES
These classes teach music theory and ear training as a supplement to private lessons and/or classes. Signing up for theory classes allows a student to advance more quickly during their instrument training of the weekly lessons, so that lessons can focus more on musicianship skills. Classes begin the week of January 30th, 2012.  Please call director Julie Ann (602-885-3672) for more information.
