Ms. Iris

Rui (Iris) Yang is a violist and educator currently pursuing her DMA in Viola Performance at Arizona State University, where she serves as a teaching assistant. She holds a Master of Music degree with a Violin/Viola Pedagogy minor from the Peabody Institute and has taught pre-college students through the Peabody Preparatory, the ASU String Project, and Northwood Elementary. As a performer, she has appeared with the Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Philharmonic, Sedona Symphony, and Maryland Lyric Opera, and participated in festivals including the National Orchestral Institute and Round Top.

Yang’s teaching philosophy emphasizes connecting technical study with expressive performance, helping students at all levels develop both solid foundations and a personal musical voice.
