Ms. Susan
Susan Dunn is an enthusiastic violinist from Greenville, South Carolina. She began her first violin lesson at age eight and has been part of the music duo of Soothing
Reflections, LLC with her twin, Rita, since the age of nine. Susan has won both local and national violin competitions, and in 2022, she was the recipient of the William McEver Music Scholarship during commencement. Susan has been a violinist with the Young Artist Orchestra, EMF Young Artist Orchestra, Bob Jones University Symphony Orchestra (Concertmaster), and the Greenville Symphony Orchestra. Her other musical experiences include making CD recordings, recording a film soundtrack, and making a recording for a world premiere production by C.S. Lewis. Presently, she is the chair of the Oscar Valentin Award for the National Federation of Music Clubs.
Susan has taught private lessons, been a teaching assistant for elementary and high school, and taught at summer music camps. She has attended Eastern Music Festival, Varna International, and Cremona Music Festival, performing throughout Italy. Her masterclasses include David Kim (The Philadelphia Orchestra), Stephen Rose (The Cleveland Orchestra), and Tessa Lark among others. Additional coaches include Carl Topilow and Grammy award winning, Richard Kaufman.
Susan received her BM in Violin Performance from Bob Jones University studying under Dr. Brandon Ironside and was granted the Special Talent Award Scholarship from Arizona State University. Currently she is pursuing a Masters in Violin Performance at ASU studying with Dr. Katie McLin while simultaneously obtaining a Music Entrepreneurship Certificate. She plays on an 1849 Italian violin made by Vincenzo Jorio which was once owned by the famous Hungarian violinist, Joseph Szigeti.
